FIBC Guidelines – Safe Use, Storage, and Handling

Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) are a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective packaging solution for bulk goods. However, for safe and effective use, it’s important to follow certain guidelines related to handling, storage, lifting, and filling.

This page provides essential information to help you use FIBC bags correctly and safely across different industries.

Basic Handling Tips:

  • Store in dry, shaded areas—away from moisture and UV light

  • Always lift using all loops with proper equipment

  • Never drag or drop bags

  • Do not exceed the SWL (Safe Working Load)

  • Ground Type C bags before filling/discharging

  • Use only certified bags for hazardous goods

  • Reuse only bags rated 6:1 or higher and after inspection

  • Use 100% virgin polypropylene for food-grade FIBCs

  • Bags must be produced in BRCGS / ISO 22000 / HACCP-certified cleanrooms

  • Avoid contamination—bags should be free from dust, oil, and foreign particles

  • Use liners (LDPE/LLDPE) for direct food contact

  • Ensure proper sealing & packaging after manufacturing

  • Label clearly as "Food Grade" with traceability codes

  • Follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) during transport and storage

  • Never reuse food-grade FIBCs unless certified for multiple trips
